LIAA signed a cooperation agreement with the local government of Rēzekne for attracting investments

In order to further the development of entrepreneurship in Rēzekne and to promote foreign investments in Rēzekne, the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA), the City Council of Rēzekne and the Special Economic Zone of Rēzekne signed a cooperation agreement for attracting investments.

The agreement foresees that LIAA will as much as possible inform the local government about support programs and LIAA services, about developments of scientific research, about the export potential of new products and technologies, as well as LIAA will promote the local government as an attractive location for investments by providing support in realizing investment projects and help avoid any obstacles that might occur during the process.

Besides Rezekne LIAA has signed cooperation agreements with seven other local governments: Valmiera, Jurmala, Jekabpils, Liepja, Cesis, Sigulda and Ventspils. LIAA intends to sign agreements with all Latvian local governments that are interested in investments and more specific in attracting foreign investments.

To be able to attract foreign investments more actively and targeted and to plan and use available resources efficiently, LIAA has developed a methodology to attract foreign investments. The methodology is called the “POLARIS Process”. The POLARIS process is a proactive and systematic approach to attracting potential foreign investors.
